Nouryon Brand DirectorAccording to statistics, the annual production of cumene hydroperoxide (CHP) in China is approximately 30,000 tons, with about 5 factories currently producing this product. Among them, the highest output is from the Ningbo plant of Arkema, as CHP is the main raw material for synthesizing dibenzoyl peroxide (DCP). CHP is widely applicable in various polymerization reactions, including emulsion and solution polymerization, and plays an important role in petrochemicals, vinyl resin curing, anaerobic adhesives, and acrylic resin initiation.
Here are several key points about CHP:
1. Storage and Flash Point: CHP has a flash point of 70 degrees Celsius, and the self-accelerating decomposition temperature (SADT) is also at 70 degrees. The recommended storage temperature is between -30 degrees and -40 degrees Celsius. As per industry practice, temperature-controlled transportation is generally not used in summer, and crystallization typically does not occur in winter.
2. Concentration Specifications: CHP commonly comes in two concentration specifications: 80% and 90%, with a theoretical active oxygen content of 10.5%. The 90% concentration of CHP is primarily used in the petrochemical and acrylic industries, while the 80% concentration is more frequently used for resin curing.
3. Production Process: The production process for CHP is relatively complex, and the entry barrier is high, so small factories typically do not opt for this product line.


4.Curing Agent Selection: In summer, the vinyl industry often chooses CHP as a curing agent due to its mild curing properties and low bubble formation. Additionally, CHP is the preferred initiator in the anaerobic adhesive field, significantly enhancing the adhesion strength and chemical resistance of the adhesive.
5.Synthesis of Fine Chemicals: In the petrochemical sector, cumene hydroperoxide can be used to synthesize certain intermediates and fine chemicals, such as peroxides and alcohol compounds, and is widely used in coatings and adhesives.
6.Packaging Specifications: The standard packaging for CHP is in 30-liter HDPE drums containing 25 kilograms of peroxide or 200-kilogram steel drums containing 180 kilograms of peroxide.
